Older struggling readers
working with Miss Emma
Older struggling readers need regular, intensive phonemic awareness and phonics instruction to get them back on track. They will need at least a full term, taken out every day.
Miss Emma visits older students in schools and works with the students who actually need to start learning to read and spell again, as never taught (even though in school for 10 years) Note that 90% of these kids had no learning 'disability' or intellectual impairment ie they were instructional casualties. With different teaching, they could have been reading and spelling ten years ago. Frustrating, and frightening, isn't it.
